Oh my god, could it be, anything but that, no, not...
an update!
(Dun dun dun)
(Dramatic reverb + token crushing of native and gratuitous display of flesh)
I have double tea.
Two tea bags, twice as much milk, and twice as much sugar as normal people.
Because water is the boring part of tea.
As anyone pondering upon this will no doubt have surmised, I am procrastinating.
Psychology essay.
Also ToK essay.
What I have so far for my psych. one:
"Constructive memory" - rather than reconstructing & telling what happened, parts of or whole memories are constructed. This may be due to what we "know" should have happened (social sensibilities), suggestions (often unintentional) about details, or post-event acquisition of knowledge ("That guy was a serial killer" = "Yes, I definitely remember him carrying a gun")
- Only recall bits and pieces => invent links that make sense
- *retrieval cues* too broad => memories mix (three different visits to the park become one, for example, or a dream about a park and a general concept of what should happen at parks are mixed in)
- suggestion => "When the man and woman *crashed* into each other, how fast were they going? "Crash" makes people imagine that they must have been going quickly to 'crash' when in reality they may just have bumped while moving slowly. This is why 'leading questions' are not allowed from lawyers to witnesses in court trials.
Is okay so far? Considering that's just notes and vague outlines, yes?
I'm also checking out (vaguely) the general state of society in 1933 New York.
No reason :)
Apart from it being kind of useful in our English oral =P
We're discussing King Kong being a classic of the speculative fiction genre, and we need context. So context is my researching job tonight.
What we learned from watching the 2005 King Kong was that Jack Black cannot act.
Also his character is a nasty, nasty man.
He caused the extinction of the dinosaurs and the death of the only Sensitive New Aged Gorilla to ever exist - King Kong.
It was very heart-rending.
Especially how Sexy Beast Kong's death was so drawn out :(
I drew a picture.
It's slightly confusing.
And on the side I wrote:
Thoughts are not an effective hiding place.
Big words don't protect you.
You can't chase people away forever.
Sooner or later,
you're going to have to
let someone in.
I'm not even sure who I was thinking of. Possibly me. I tend to argue using unnecessarily long and complex words. I figure, if they don't understand me, their dislike can be brushed off as ignorance. I can always claim, if backed into a corner, that there was a linguistic misunderstanding, and somehow I am still right.
I have a problem with hiding in amongst my thoughts. I feel like a goldfish trying to hide in a tacky plastic seaweed.
I can claim to be thinking and being philosophical, when in reality my thoughts are flimsy and shallow. Caitlin = goldfish, thoughts = plastic seaweed.
I tend to argue with people as my first mode of defence. If I'm worried someone won't like me, I'll be rude to them.
The only way for me to feel confident is to push the needs and feelings of others out of my head until after I've got through a situation.
And then I feel horrible, and nobody has really interacted with me at all, making the whole bullshit process redundant.
I've been feeling odd over the past week or two.
Bad odd.
I realised I haven't been writing in my diary. Or on here. Instead I've been spilling to Stuart. I'm sure he's tiring of it. Perhaps writing here or trying to keep up the diarying will direct some of my whining away from him. He's a beautifully patient and tolerant person, but I'm terrified I'll push him to the point where he can't take any more of me.
He was upset about something today, and wouldn't tell me what it was. He wouldn't talk about it, and somehow that made me sad. Most of it was, "There's something so wrong he won't talk about it?" kind of worrying. But part of it was, "I tell you everything, I try to explain my actions and feelings to show you it's not you that makes me get upset like I do, and you can't trust me in return to tell me what's upsetting you"... in not telling me what the matter was, I guess he wasn't showing me that it wasn't my fault, which is all I would have needed short term. Very short term. Five minutes after that reassurance I would be worrying away again. I'm worrying terribly now...
I worry very much about my friends and the people I love.
I want to have them all in sight so that I can stop any harm coming to them.
Me and Maddie and Skye were talking last night, about how, if Skye and Luke were in an open relationship, and Luke went off and tried new things and then came back to Skye, she would know that they had something more than anything else they could find.
I sort of realised, that I can't let anyone go, not even for a moment, for fear that they won't come back. I need an emotional stranglehold on everyone around me, like a leash, I can't bear to see people leaving, even if it's only briefly.
So sometimes I get controlling. Stuart darling, if you wind up reading this, I'm sorry for clinging so much and not wanting to let you go ever, maybe this pondering is making some sense out of it.
I sometimes feel like I'm unintentionally being manipulative. Or that it might seem that way. And those times are the times where I insist that I am fine, or that I am too dignified/proud to cry in public, and ignore things that normally make me break down.
I wonder what other people wonder. I wonder how I might describe myself. I seem very contradictory.
Manipulative and sometimes naïve; childish and cynical; slightly tired of everything but curious about most other stuff. Often withdrawn but hyperactive. Stupid and nerdy. I don't really make a whole lot of sense.
Mlarp.
I'm out of credit (I'm out of money)
I hate not being able to call people. But several times during the last few days, not having any credit has probably been a good thing.
That is, it's stopped me, say, ringing Stuart in the middle of the night. Which I am currently really wanting to do. But I'd wake the siblings.
If I still really need to talk to him when I go to bed (and it's not like, 4am), I'll call him.
Eh, fuck it, I am going to bed.

I played you a song but I eated it... wait, no...
Welp, it's dodgy quality recording and out of tune piano, plus it's sideways because blogger doesn't seem to like portrait-oriented videos... but it's Moonlight Sonata nonetheless.

Like a Salad
Today is Thursday, right? I think so. Well anyway.
Tuesday night Skye had a movie night ^-^ And, it was so funny. We were supposed to be watching scary movies, but we kept making random comments all through Grudge 2 and that kind of killed the scariness of it a bit, and then Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn't 'scary', so much as 'unpleasant'. And it was getting repetitive by about twenty minutes in, so we stopped watching that and just sat around giggling instead. Mandy went home instead of staying overnight, and Terri fell asleep at around two, so they missed out on the Salad/Haystack/Puppy Relationship Analysis Metaphor conversation... but before that, when we were still watching movies, we had a bowl of melted chocolate, and lots of marshmallows... that was so yummy ^-^ And, and, Skye spiked my milo! With coffee! I don't like coffee. But she thought I needed caffeine (I didn't) so she put it in there anyway, and I could tell, before I even had a sip, I could smell it, even though it was like, one eighth of a teaspoon of coffee and four teaspoons of milo. My super nose can detect your secretive caffeination! Anyway, the salad/haystack/puppy thing was interesting. Anisha (no idea how to spell her name >.<) was saying that they say when you fall off a horse you need to get back on right away or you won't be able to get back on at all, and she was saying that relationships-wise, she had fallen off the horse, and not only had she not got back on, but she had run to the other side of the paddock, into the stable, locked the door, grabbed a pitchfork, and hidden in a haystack. And we had all these strange extended metaphors involving Mr Rights and their ability to create bicycles out of horse bones (long story) and whether she should feed the hay to the horse or what. And then somehow or other Skye's relationship was compared to a salad, and there was a discussion about whether tomato should be mushed into the carpet or washed and put back into the salad if it falls on the floor. Very long story indeed. The puppy thing was strange and irrelevant... irrelevant, I tells ya... Terri was asleep so we couldn't involve her, but we decided to compare Ryan to a plank of wood. No, I didn't get it either, but it seemed to make sense to Anisha and maybe Skye, at the time, and it was like, 5.30 in the morning and we were still giggling madly, and Skye's mum got up and went to work before we fell asleep. It was... interesting. Fun.
Anyway, Freya had a pile of friends over yesterday/last night and they made one hell of a lot of noise, and two of them in particular were keeping the others awake longer than they wanted to be, and they were all very insane and whatnot and apparently they got almost-kicked-out of a café earlier in the day for being too noisy, which really didn't surprise me too much. But still. I slept through all their noise because I was so tired ^-^
Anyway, I be's bored. I've been doing pretty much nothing at all all day =) Mother and Freya keep not letting me make plans because they say "we'll go to the art gallery today", and then they go off and make other plans. So we don't end up going and in the meantime, they haven't let me go out and do stuff. Gr.
Bleh, I'm all confused and whatnot about how I'm feeling at the moment. But because it's a how-I'm-feeling that involves other people, I'm not gonna go into it.
Anyways, I'm off.

Formal Strawberries
So I was planning on not leaving my room at all today. I wasn't even going to get up and have breakfast or come online. But mother had to go and spoil that. I suppose tis rather a gewd thing she did.
We went out with Trish and Kevin and their boarder Merina to see An Inconvenient Truth. Damn good movie. Yes, it's a documentary. Yes, it's by that random American politician. But damn, it's a good movie. Go see it. Seriously. If you don't, I'll have you killed. Just go see it. It's really compelling, it's got some very hard to ignore facts and figures, the senator guy is very persuasive and even rather likeable, as well as quite funny. Great movie, go see it. I'm not sure about anywhere else, but in Canberra it's showing at Manuka's Greater Union. They should be showing it at Hoyts, it'd get the message out further, but hey. It's worth the trip to Manuka.
After seeing that movie (You should see it. Go see it now. If you can't right now, book tickets online. Right now.) we went and got coffees, hot chocolates, juices and milkshakes, and sat around and talked about it. Everyone agreed it was a great movie. Which is why you should go see it.
Anyway, then Mother, Trish, Merina and I left Kevin to wander happily around Paperchain while we went... dum dum dum... formal dress shopping. Merina's in year twelve, so she was looking for a formal dress for her, and I, as you should know, am in year ten, and therefore also have a formal coming up. So yeah. We went to Momento, and gawd, the sales ladies, they spoil you as soon as you step through the door. All you can hear is "Yes, that really is gorgeous, it shows off your beautiful figure and delicate skin, and oh, that colour really brings out the blue in your eyes, which are lovely by the way, and...". It's the sort of thing you come away from giggling and smiling. Once we got away from the shop, though, it was back to being sarcastic and cynical. Joyous joy. =P
So yes, that was my expedition to Manuka... Anyways... got back, lounged for about ten minutes, then got dragged out again for exercise. Got back from that, sat down for five minutes, then had to get up again to make dinner. I drank about three litres of milk in the process, before mother confiscated all the milk bottles. Anyway... ate dinner... somehow managed to taste far-lee gewd, I may be gaining some vague skills in cooking... watched Doctor Who, which was a rather shitey episode, but meh. Not enough of Rose and the Doctor. Meh. Creature Comforts twas amusing. The worm got abducted by aliens...
Watched the Iron Chef with Bridie, for some reason. The dubbing on that never ceases to amuse me. Well, nearly never. They don't actually pronounce any of the Japanese words right... heh.
Yes indeedy, now here I am being bored.
So anyway, that's the story of how my plan to spend the day in bed was spoiled. I figure I'll just be able to do it tomorrow. I just want to know if I actually have any reason to get out of bed when I'm not dragged by mother.
Anyways, time be now for the Caitlyn to be runningks away.
Bye bye, little acorns.
